BILL GOES HOME

Below is a story about Bill, the first ever Arab horse Lyn purchased and it was done via the internet.  At Myella there was a need for horses with more ability to be ridden daily and after being involved in a number of  endurance competitions Lyn put an advertisement on the endurance riders association web site looking for retired horses.  The response was huge and we purchased 3 horses which were friends, we didn’t even ride them we just went on advice from Alwyn Torenbeek that they were quiet!!  Anyway that was approximately 8 years ago.  Bill has been very popular ever since, however and in November 2010 one of his original owners tracked him down and we resold him to her.

Hi,

My name is Elaine.  I am trying to track down a horse I sold about 10 years ago.

His registered name is Kahlil.. purebred Arab gelding.. chestnut with while blaze (wide between eyes tapering to nose).. He is about 16 -17 years old now and has an "SP" brand..  3 white socks.. Right front leg is all chestnut.  His next owner called him Bill and did a lot of endurance on him.   I spoke to his last owner this morning.. she said he was retired to a farm stay property near Emerald & was going to try & find the contact details.. I had a look on the net & saw a photo on your site of a horse that looked like him...(photo from your web site)

The following photo's are of when he lived with us.. from a few months old until about 5 or 6;

 My niece was particularly fond of this horse.. & we are trying to find out how he is.. Any information would be greatly appreciated

We agreed to sell Bill back to Elaine and at the end of November Bill took the long journey to NSW to be reunited with his first owners.  Elaine sent us the following update on his return:

Bill has settled in really well.  I put Doc & Dez, 2 of his old paddock mates, in with him on Thursday, so he is far more relaxed now.    I used to lead him off Doc, on trail rides before I broke him in & Dez's sire was Bill's half brother..He is only 2 years older than Bill,  so they virtually grew up together.  There was some sniffing & a bit of squealing, but no aggression or chasing at all.  They definitely recognized each other, even after 12 years... they just went off grazing together,  Bill had a roll in the creek, and they had a happy canter around the paddock together. It is like he never left.

Photo below taken just after they were re-united..

Cheers
Elaine

  Thanks for keeping us updated Elaine.
