Farewell  Barb

By Debbie Smith & Lyn Eather

The bus is tuned and all packed up

Spirits are high, you're destined for luck

We wish you well in your new stage

A new chapter begins, you've turned the next page

You came to help, we had a new team

You had all the skills, it felt like a dream

Good at planning and doing the job well

You were right for Myella, we could just tell

As part of our team you've become a good friend

You're real good at darts and a good ear bend

You proudly talk of the kids that you had

Of  five special girls and one lovely lad

Now that you're leaving, what will we miss most?

You're kindness or smartness or simply your roast

Your lunch time fritters are simply the best

Those custard treats put our diet to the test

You sorted our roster, store room and cook book

Cleaned all the rooms and in every nook

Washed and folded linen till the cows came home

And when short-handed you answered the phone

Your voice is so clear and so kind and true

A voice for radio as I always tell you

You get the work done and make it a breeze

Sit back in the arvo for cheap wine and cheese

Earlier this year you came to work with a smile

Your face was lit up a happy look on your dial

You giggled and laughed and it went on for weeks

But it was a while until you began to speak

At last you told us there was a man

Who talks on the phone like your number one fan

As the months went by you were still smiling

We were thrilled to see you so beguiling

In Warren you've rekindled an old flame

A childhood sweetheart you both felt the same

It's that easy life that you're looking for now

But cooking for TWO, so you really know how?

Warren 's a man who is patient and kind

Barb that's a quality you are so deserving to find

He is quite handy and could never be mean

Together you look like a wonderful team

Now that you've bought the old bus to travel

Your journey continues as your future unravels

The bus has a name that is quite fun

It's a bit like the song with the title bare bum

If you see "Running Bare" while out for a ride

Wave to the couple who are happy inside

And congrats Barb, you no longer smoke

You have now given up for your special bloke

Barb you're so loveable, giving and loyal

You deserve a life that's truly royal

While you sail down the highway and grow back your nails

You and Warren can swap your life's tales

When you pass by you must come to visit

We'll join you for smoko, we won't want to miss it

So our beautiful Barb this is not goodbye

We'll say see you later coz we don't want to cry
