Determination
Imagine
you can't read or write
And nothings wrong with your sight
A word code written in a book
No matter how you try and look
It makes no sense to you at all
You try to read but always fall
You
take the knocks and the blows
Deep down you hurt but no one knows
They demonstrate that it’s not hard
But school day memories leave you scared
Within you feel the need to read
To be content and to succeed
Against
the odds you take a stand
Pen, paper and a book in hand
Then on your own you find some tricks
In keys ‘n’ screen, a mouse that clicks
And finally, it comes to you
You CAN read and always do
With
no one's help and on your own
You read the guide to use the phone
A map, menu and a book or two
So much to know and things to do
Books piled high upon the floor
You read and read and read some more
Now
you can read you are complete
And the world kneels at you feet
Your family is amazed and proud
To hear you reading words out loud
And there’s happiness in your look
And beneath you arm a finished book
